Richard has been working as a professional freelance musician and music educator since graduating from Birmingham Conservatoire in 1997.
He has been a freelance music workshop leader and animateur, a researcher for a project supported by the European commission entitled "Music Education in a Multicultural European society", which looked at the relationships between formal and community based music education, a classroom music teacher, Education Manager at Birmingham Conservatoire and a professional musician. In 2005 Richard received an Honorary Membership of Birmingham Conservatoire for his services in music education.
As a brass player Richard enjoys brass workshops and teaching, but his passion lies in collaborative composition workshops and interactive improvisation. Richard is also active in delivering loads of projects in Primary and Secondary schools based around the National Curriculum. Richard personally delivers projects to well over 1200 young people every year.
Richard is deeply passionate about providing the opportunity for all young people to participate in music making.
