Lisa Mallet

Flautist - World Musician



Originally from London, Lisa moved up north to study classical flute with Elena 
Duran at the Birmingham Conservatoire, graduating in 1998. During this time,
she became increasingly inspired by Indian music, initially working with John
Mayer’s Indo-Jazz Fusion and the Sabri Ensemble.

In 2001, funded by West Midlands Arts, she made the first of two long-term trips
to India, studying the bansuri with Pt.Hariprasad Chaurasia in Mumbai. Combining
a career of both performance and teaching, Lisa has worked with a variety of
artistes and companies worldwide, including the Pakistani kathak dancer Nahid
Siddiqui, the South Indian percussionist Sivamani, Mercury prize winner Talvin
Singh and the Royal Shakespeare Company.

She is presently touring internationally with the Akram Khan Dance Company and
is a member of the newly formed South Asian Music Ensemble, Tarang.
