Gareth Jones is a Birmingham based musician who completed his Postgraduate studies on the Composition for Screen course at the Royal College of Music, studying with Joseph Horowitz. During his studies at the RCM and previously at Birmingham Conservatoire Gareth won several prizes including the Graduation Concert Composition Competition resulting in a performance by the Conservatoire Symphony Orchestra, the Creative Studies Award and the Graduation Fanfare competition where his brass fanfare is performed regularly each year in Symphony Hall, Birmingham.
Gareth was a member of the National Youth Wind Orchestra of Great Britain as First and Eb Clarinet and now teaches for Northamptonshire Music Service, privately around the West Midlands and for Musicate. Currently he performs with the renowned midlands based band "The Destroyers".
Gareth was commissioned by Musicate in 2005 to write a piece based on the history of Telford and Wrekin "A Laymans Guide to Music", performed by young musicians from Musicate schools at the National Association of Headteachers conference and for a visit of the then Education and Culture Secretary, Estelle Morris.
